If you like my writing and want to support the work I do, then please consider supporting the nonprofit that I used to work for — The North End Community Improvement Collaborative (NECIC) — and the organizations where I'm currently on the Board of Directors — the YMCA of North Central Ohio and Idea Works.
You can support them in the following ways:
If you’re a regular Amazon user, you can support us by making your purchases via Amazon Smile. This is Amazon’s corporate giving program in which the company donates 0.5% of eligible purchases you make to a charity of your choice (the price you pay for your purchases remains the same). Sure, 0.5% isn’t much in isolation, but when added up over thousands of users and millions of purchases a day, it can become a huge sum of money.
Please click the button below to learn how to use Amazon Smile and make sure to choose any of the three organizations mentioned above as the charity you want to donate to.
If you live in the U.S. and frequently shop at the Kroger, you can use the Kroger Community Rewards program to support us. All you need is a Kroger Plus Card and Kroger account, and then simply sign up for the program by clicking the button below.
Similar to the Amazon Smile program, if you enroll for Kroger Community Rewards then the company will donate a percentage of your purchases (without any extra cost to you) to a charity of your choice. Again, just choose any of the three organizations I mentioned as the charity you want to donate to.
Or you can skip all this and donate money! Visit the NECIC website here and click “Donate” at the top right corner of the screen to donate (you can also choose to become a monthly donor). Visit the YMCA and Idea Works websites to do the same.
This isn't related to my work, but I'm a big advocate for the United States Digital Service (USDS). If you or someone you know is a tech expert and, most importantly, wants to put his/her services to use for the greater good instead of coming up with new ways to get people to spend 20 more minutes on Facebook, check out this fantastic initiative!
